About

Columbia Springs is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and partner to the historic Vancouver Trout Hatchery, which is operated by Washington Fish & Wildlife. Together, we steward and maintain the surrounding 100-acre natural area which includes two small lakes, interpretive displays, and ~2 miles of hiking trails. We host 250 elementary field trips per year, Salmon in the Classroom, Repair Clark County, Nature Nuts Summer Camp, our Visitor Center, guided walks, several festivals, and workshops. Our mission is to offer a unique, natural setting where educational experiences can help foster a greater awareness of the natural world, which we hope will inspire stewardship.

Volunteer Opportunity Description: Our public volunteer events are perfect for volunteers who want to spend a couple of hours working outside in Columbia Springs' beautiful natural area. Projects typically include planting trees, removing invasive species, trail maintenance, and improving the accessibility and safety of the site. Columbia Springs will provide snacks, tools, gloves, training, and guidance. Signing up ahead of time to participate in a stewardship event is required.

Volunteers are asked to wear outdoor and work-appropriate clothing (no open-toe shoes, please!).
Service events are 10:00 am - 1:00 pm, we meet in the SWIFT classroom (inside the main hatchery building by the round cement fish ponds here at Columbia Springs).

Volunteers must be present for the orientation, which begins at 10:00 am in order to participate.

Location: 12208 SE Evergreen Hwy, Vancouver, WA 98683. Our public parking lot is just west (head towards the I-205 bridge) from the fish hatchery. Please park and follow signs to Swift Classroom. There is a map of the site at columbiasprings.org/visit.
