About
Food security is a foundational aspect of contemporary democracy—access to food is a basic need without which political participation is impossible. A recent national Hope Center study found that 45 percent of college students had experienced food insecurity in the past 30 days. Closer to home, the Community Action Center reports that food insecurity in Whitman County ranged between 18 - 20 percent prior to the current economic crisis and global pandemic.
Join us at the CCE Public Square to learn more about this issue and what WSU and community partners are doing—and what you can do—to help address this difficult problem. This event will take place on Wednesday, September 9 at 4 p.m. and will be streamed live via Zoom. The Zoom link will be sent out to registrants on the morning of the event.
All Public Square discussions are free and open to WSU students and the public.
