Volunteering on 9/11 honors the lives lost and the heroism of first responders by transforming a day of tragedy into a day of unity, service, and community strength.
This day is an important opportunity to serve our communities because it honors the lives lost and the extraordinary acts of courage demonstrated on September 11, 2001. On that day, 19 terrorists hijacked four commercial airplanes. Two planes were flown into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City. A third plane struck the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and the fourth, United Airlines Flight 93, crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after passengers courageously fought to regain control of the aircraft, preventing it from reaching its intended target.
As thousands of people evacuated the World Trade Center, firefighters, police officers, emergency medical personnel, and countless ordinary citizens rushed toward danger to help others. Their selfless actions saved thousands of lives. Nearly 3,000 people were killed in the attacks, including 441 first responders. Today, the 9/11 National Day of Service honors their legacy by encouraging people across the country to come together in service, demonstrating the compassion, unity, and resilience that emerged in the aftermath of that tragic day.
Please dress appropriately for the weather, as some projects may take place outdoors.

Hi I was trying to sign up for one of the afternoon volunteer options as mentioned in the presentation and accidentally signed up for the morning one. Is there any afternoon ones I can do? I can’t due the morning due to classes from 10-3
