Crisis Clinic of the Peninsulas

About

We are a 24-hour telephone service that provides a "listening ear" to people who feel they have nowhere else to turn. Along with crisis intervention, we provide referrals to community services when appropriate. Trained volunteers listen in a caring, non-judgmental, non-critical fashion to callers who are dealing with a wide variety of issues. The desired outcome of such careful listening is the caller will be able to discover and utilize alternatives that are available to them. The volunteers at the Crisis Clinic believe the need to talk to an understanding human being, particularly in times of trouble or loneliness is as basic as the need for food and shelter. We try to meet that need. The Crisis Clinic of the Peninsulas is a designated call center of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (1-800-SUICIDE) or (1-800-273-TALK), a recipient of SAMHSA awards.
