Event Description

Organizational Information: White Spring Ranch is a Century Farm & National Historical site along Hwy. 95. The Farm house is a Museum of 130 years of artifacts saved by the Lorang family, many of whom were historians and photographers, and who also journaled life in the Palouse area for over 130 years. Discover true stories of the turn of the last century, WWI, Roaring Twenties, Depression, the New Deal, WWII, Space Race, Civil Rights, Cold War, through early magazines, newspapers, letters, postcards, pamphlets, books, comics, receipts and wonderful photographs. This setting is a beautiful spot for picnics in warm weather or photographs year round.

NOTE: In cases of extreme Winter weather, volunteers are advised to travel to Genesee from Moscow, Idaho, rather than from Pullman, Washington. This should hopefully make travel safer and smoother.

Opportunity Description:
Student volunteers will assist with the restoration and archiving of White Springs Ranch's Farmhouse Museum and Log Cabins.

Days/Times: Transportation will NOT be provided. Please meet at White Spring Ranch no later than five minutes before the 2:30 PM start time to meet with your group.

Requirements: Service hours are allocated based on the amount of direct service participation and do not include meeting and travel time. Students can expect to receive approximately 2 hours of service. Please dress appropriately for working outdoors, warm clothing and closed-toed required. Masks must be worn at all times.

COVID: As a reminder, as part of the WSU spring 2021 Semester Testing Program, many WSU students will need to take a COVID-19 test upon their arrival to Pullman. This includes: students living in WSU residence halls or WSU-owned apartments; students who work on campus; students who have in-person activities, classes or appointments, including athletic programs; students who plan to access any campus facilities (e.g. dining facilities, CUB, Chinook Student Center, recreation facilities, SPARK, etc.). Students living in Pullman are strongly encouraged to take advantage of arrival testing.

All volunteers must complete the WSU attestation form before working on a CCE project. This can be done at https://attestation.wsu.edu

You are required to provide your own transportation. We will be meeting at White Spring Ranch 5 minutes before our start time. Once the project is completed, students will leave through their own means of transportation that they used to arrive on site.

All COVID regulations will be followed. You MUST have a mask on at all times while on site and do your best to keep 6 feet social distancing. Please dress for the weather, and be sure to bring a full water bottle.

Cancellation Policy: Participants can unregister on GivePulse up to 24 hours before the scheduled project start time. Please let CCE staff know if you are unable to participate if it is within 24 hours of the project meeting time. The CCE has a strict No Show Policy. After 2 No Shows students will be unable to participate in CCE-led Projects for the rest of the semester.
