I did another hotline shift, as I've been doing since my freshman year, and it went really well. It provided me with a lot of experience in diffusing high stress situations and providing mental health support to someone who needed it.

This was really informational and helpful in allowing me to make informed decisions when listening to the news. This is especially important in today's society where media is so muddled and political sides are so polarized. I really enjoyed this zoom session.
I had a good experience on the sexual assault and domestic violence hotline during my shift. There were no calls that I felt I couldn't handle and I was able to use self care tactics to debrief myself. I enjoy helping others and working with this awesome organization.
I really enjoyed this event because we got to talk about the hot topics that are really important surrounding the upcoming election. It also taught me how to effectively communicate with people who do not believe in climate change which is something I struggled with before.
I did 40 hours of sexual assault and domestic violence training that will allow me to volunteer even further and answer the hotline phone for victims of these types of abuse. I learned how to emotionally support a person in high crisis, suicide prevention and actions taken if the victim does express they are suicidal, and resources in the area for victims of abuse to use.
