Even though it was cold, the experience was fun. It's nice to see that there are plenty of people who appreciate this service. If it happens again next summer, I'll be helping out for sure.
I helped make care packages for elderly who live around the Northern Idaho area such as Lapwai, Orofino, and other areas. Although I didn't do much, doing this has made me feel like I need to support vulnerable communities that I know little to nothing about including my own. I suggest anyone looking to get involved in their community to get out of their comfort zone and work with groups they're unfamiliar with as was my case.
It was a lot of fun and a low stress environment. I learned a little bit about local farmers (and how creative farm names can be). I didn't realize I could help while doing very little, but I'm definitely looking forward to doing this again in the next few weekends (I signed up to volunteer more than one weekend).
